Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  In honor of today, I just want to take a little time to give thanks to the most important people in my life.  Jason and I recently got married, and as I look back over the photos, I feel so incredibly lucky and happy to have been surrounded by some of the best people in the world and to be able to call them friends.  I’m so thankful for them, and for the new family that I just inherited (I must confess, I absolutely LOVE my in-laws!), and most of all for the amazing man I get to spend the rest of my life with.  I am lucky in so many ways, and if I stopped every single day to give thanks, it would never be enough.  To the people in the pictures below (and the people not in the pictures below, but who were there and saw it firsthand), thank you for being a part of my life!!

All photos taken by Mike Falco and Glen Allsop for Christian Oth Studio.  I’ll be blogging MUCH more about my wedding in the future, along with a several-part blog series about what I learned from my wedding that I hope to pass on to other brides.  For now, I am off to College Station to spend Thanksgiving the right way – tailgating and watching football!!!  BTHO tu!

PS :: What Thanksgiving wedding post would be complete without some Fightin’ Texas Aggie War Hymn photos?

I’m so excited to finally share Lauren and Jeff’s OW Ranch wedding, now that it has been featured on Style Me Pretty!  There’s something so special about an outdoor ranch wedding.  Being surrounded by the beauty of nature in a rustic setting that almost forces you to relax creates a lovely, laid back atmosphere that can’t go wrong.  One thing I particularly loved about Lauren and Jeff’s wedding was all of the color! When I walked into the reception and saw every color of the rainbow, I absolutely fell in love.  Debby Jewesson of Branching Out really outdid herself with this one.  There were so many creative containers, such as plaster urns, wooden boxes, vintage tins, and mason jars, filled with every kind of flower and unique touches like moss, acorns, ferns, and quartz crystal.  Everywhere you turned there was a new and interesting centerpiece.  I must have taken a million photos trying to catalog all of the beautiful touches!  Lauren told me that she when she decided to have no specific wedding colors, she got a lot of strange looks and had a lot of people try to talk her out of it, but I am so glad she held her ground!  Entertainment was provided by Maximum Acoustic, the delicious Mexican food at the reception came courtesy of Wind Hill Catering, and the wedding cakes were created by Granbury Cakes.  The bride wore a Marisa gown from Patsy’s Bridal Boutique in Highland Park, and the bridesmaid’s stunning dress was created by a family friend.  Here are some of my favorites from their wedding:

One of my favorite moments from Kristy and Brian’s wedding was walking in the door to her hotel room at the Adolphus Hotel and being introduced to her super friendly bridesmaids, some of whom admitted that they follow my blog, so I know they will be especially happy to see these images! Kristy is one of those rare, magnificent beauties that you seldom come across, and when you do, you can’t help but just stare. Every move she makes is so full of elegance and grace, and it is literally impossible to catch a bad angle of her. Her kind, quiet spirit is a perfect match for Brian, who is as likable a guy as you will ever find. I know Brian knows how lucky he is to have her, and I also know she feels equally lucky to have found such a wonderful man who adores her so much. Spending time with Kristy and Brian and being a part of their wedding was a real honor, and I’m thrilled to share the images with all of you! The ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church of Dallas and the reception took place at the Adolphus Hotel. The delicious cake was made by Panini Bakery, the flowers were created by Kabloom of Dallas, and Special Edition kept the party going all night long, as always.

Holiday Deadlines!

Although we still have quite awhile before the Christmas music begins to play and people start to put up their trees and twinkle lights, in the wedding photography world, the holiday season deadlines are quickly approaching.  Many manufacturers of photography products shut down for the entire month of December (and some even shut down as early as mid-November), so it’s crucial that you get your orders in early!  The following deadlines will ensure that you receive your products by Christmas/Hanukkah:

The deadline for all wedding, parent, and boudoir albums orders is November 13.  All design approvals must be submitted and all balances must be paid in full on or before November 13 in order to complete the order and ensure holiday arrival.  If you still have revisions to submit, they must be submitted by October 30 in order to meet the November 13 deadline.

The deadline to place an order for an engagement, bridal, or guestbook album is November 20 (designs must be finalized by December 5).

The deadline to place an order for all boudoir presentation boxes and folios is October 30.

The deadline for all print and canvas orders is December 11.

Some products may be available after the above deadlines, but there will be significant rush fees, many of which double the price of the product, so make sure that you get your orders in on time!

********Our offices will be closed December 17 until January 3.  No orders will be fulfilled during that time.********

There is still limited availability for those wishing to do a boudoir session as a Christmas gift.  Although we can shoot your session as late as early December, you must pre-order your products before the October 30 deadline, so if that is something you’re considering, contact us ASAP!

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your parents, grandparents, or significant other, we do have a number of options available, so send over an email and we can discuss what products would best fit your budget.

If you have any questions or need help with your order, please let us know!

Every now and then I drive by a particular spot, and I think to myself, “What a perfect place for a photoshoot.” I add it to the mental catalog, and nine times out of ten, I completely forget about it and move on. However, there is one tiny little forest just off 75 in McKinney that I have been eying for years, just waiting for the right couple to take there, and with Erin and Tyler, I finally got my chance. Erin and Tyler are quite possibly the most laid-back bride and groom in the history of weddings. At their engagement session – which happened about a week before we left for Ireland for their wedding – Erin sprang the news on me that she had not yet purchased a wedding dress, and didn’t really even have any plans where to start. This is the kind of thing that most brides have nightmares about (I had that particular nightmare no less than ten times myself), but Erin just smiled, shrugged her shoulders, and said “It’ll work out.”  With that kind of positive attitude, I knew that she and Tyler would be the perfect opportunity for me to suggest that we just pull off the highway and shoot their engagement session in a random patch of woods. True to form, Erin and Tyler jumped right in, and it turned out to be one of my favorite engagement sessions this year. I can’t wait to show you their incredible Irish wedding, but for now, here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session:

It seems like the Belo Mansion is my home away from home. In the past six weeks, I’ve been there no less than five times, both as a photographer and as a wedding guest, and my sample albums are filled with images from various weddings I’ve been blessed to shoot there. It is without a doubt one of the most popular and beautiful venues in Dallas, and how fitting that I should photograph one of my most beautiful brides there! Andrea is one of those classic beauties, a girl whose stunning face would be revered in virtually any period in history. Whether she’s smiling, laughing, or being serious, you just can’t take your eyes off of her. I also completely fell in love with her dress, which was as regal and elegant as she is! Here are some of my favorites from her bridal session at Belo Mansion!

Oh boy, has it been difficult to keep this one under wraps!  I’ve been holding onto this engagement session for quite some time, and now that it has made its debut on Style Me Pretty, I’m thrilled to be able to publish it here on my blog!  This was hands down one of my favorite engagement sessions to shoot, not only because Shannon and Will are two fun, outgoing, beautiful people (which makes them extremely easy to photograph) but also because they really injected some of themselves into their session.  Shannon made it clear to me that getting a nice, posed, formal newspaper shot was a secondary concern to her – she was far more interested in capturing their personalities and the spirit of their relationship with each other.  To help make that happen, we took some of their favorite things – books they love to read together, their beloved beach cruisers, a picnic blanket and a bottle of wine – and we headed to a park right beside their home that they often spent time at.  I basically told them to just goof off, love on each other, and be themselves, and they were happy to oblige.  Here are some of my favorites from their session:
