Hannah’s Southern Bridal Session

Historic downtown McKinney is one of my favorite places in all of Texas. The quiet streets are lined with huge, gorgeous turn of the century homes and sweet families waving hello to each other and sipping lemonade on their wraparound porches. It feels like you’ve walked right out of Better Homes and Gardens. When I had the chance to photograph Rebecca’s wedding a few years back in the backyard of one of the most beautiful homes on one of the most beautiful streets (so historic it even has a Texas landmark plaque on the front door), I was thrilled to get an intimate introduction into this magical place, and I’ve been dying to go back ever since. Thankfully, Rebecca’s sister Hannah called me when she got engaged, and I jumped at the chance to return to her family’s lovely home for her bridal portraits. I’m madly in love with Hannah’s fashion sense, and she didn’t disappoint with her gorgeous pleated wedding gown adorned with rhinestones and bows and a bubble hem, and of course her amazing red heels! Andrea’s Belo Mansion Bridal Session

It seems like the Belo Mansion is my home away from home. In the past six weeks, I’ve been there no less than five times, both as a photographer and as a wedding guest, and my sample albums are filled with images from various weddings I’ve been blessed to shoot there. It is without a doubt one of the most popular and beautiful venues in Dallas, and how fitting that I should photograph one of my most beautiful brides there! Andrea is one of those classic beauties, a girl whose stunning face would be revered in virtually any period in history. Whether she’s smiling, laughing, or being serious, you just can’t take your eyes off of her. I also completely fell in love with her dress, which was as regal and elegant as she is! Lindsey’s College Station Bridals

Lindsey is the type of bride I live for: head over heels in love, overjoyed to be getting married, practically glowing with excitement and happiness, and wanting everyone around her to be as blissfully happy as she is. You just can’t be around Lindsey without feeling that infectious joy yourself, which makes photographing her a super fun experience. Not to mention that she is a stunner! I just love her gorgeous bone structure, her face is so unique and defined and every time I look at her I think she belongs in a high fashion magazine is some brilliant piece of haute couture. Melissa’s Arlington Hall Bridal Photos

Today is a Twofer Tuesday! Not only do I have some photos of an absolutely stunning bride to show you, but I’ve also uploaded a new info page all about bridal sessions. I’ve been seeing a lot of brides making the same mistakes or asking the same questions, so I decided that it was about time to put my experience shooting bridals down in print. Emily’s NYLO Bridal Session

Emily Porter (now Oberlander!) is a good friend of mine and fellow photographer from little ol’ West Virginia, where she is dominating the wedding photography industry. I was so honored to be able to photograph her bridal session recently at one of my favorite venues, the gorgeous NYLO Hotel in Plano. The NYLO is super friendly towards photographers and photoshoots and has a very low , which is so rare and hard to find, so I love shooting there as much as possible! It’s also a great place to stay, if you’re visiting the area – the food is phenomenal, the beds are very comfy, and their pool scene is always rocking on the weekends. It’s hands down my favorite hotel chain! The quirky and modern decor there completely fit Emily’s unique style and her inner sass. Here are a few of my favorites from her session:

Kelly’s NYLO Bridals

There’s just something about Kelly. Her engagements, bridals, and her wedding have all been some of my favorite shoots of all time. It is her unique sense of style and her Martha-Stewart-esque craftiness? Is it her uncanny ability to pick the best locations, the best props, the best outfits, and of course the best husband? Or is it just the fact that she’s incredibly beautiful and makes my job way easy? The world may never know. I’ll be sharing heaps of photos of Kelly over the next few months, but today we’ll get started with her bridal session at the NYLO Hotel in Plano – hands down my favorite hotel in the Dallas area. They have the best decor, the best food, the best service, the best rooms (and cheap, too!), and they’re really friendly and accommodating to photographers, which is a refreshing change of pace. It’s the place I’m holding my workshop, and it’s the only place I recommend to people staying in the North Dallas area. I can’t really recommend them enough!

Back to Kelly – she decided on the NYLO based solely on my recommendation, and I think my description of its “funky urban loft vibe” worried her Texas-country-girl sensibilities. It turned out to be a perfect match, because the bright orange and brown decor matched her wedding colors (orange and brown) perfectly! Here are some of my favorite shots from her session:

Jennifer’s Classic Elegance Bridals

I love photographing doctors. I love photographing brides from Lousiana. I love photographing women with a timeless, classic sense of style. I love photographing Aggies and brides of Aggies. So, as Jennifer is all of these things, you can imagine that having her as a client was pretty wonderful from my point of view. There are so many cool things about Jennifer and her now-husband Jimmy’s wedding that I can’t wait to share, but for now we’ll all have to settle with her lovely bridal session!

Julie’s Bridals at Arlington Hall

Jessica’s Bridal Session at Villa Antonia

Beautiful bride, beautiful dress, beautiful location.. I really get far too much credit for taking pretty photos – with a bride like Jessica in a place like this, taking stunning bridal portraits is child’s play. I’m especially in love with Jessica’s two piece Winnie Couture wedding gown, as well as those FABULOUS blue suede shoes! Shooting at Villa Antonia in Austin is always a pleasure – everywhere you turn is a new and even more lovely spot, and the incredible views of Lake Travis are the perfect backdrop for a wedding or portrait session. Angela’s Hickory Street Annex Bridals
