Today is a Twofer Tuesday! Not only do I have some photos of an absolutely stunning bride to show you, but I’ve also uploaded a new info page all about bridal sessions. I’ve been seeing a lot of brides making the same mistakes or asking the same questions, so I decided that it was about time to put my experience shooting bridals down in print. You can check out the new Preparing for Your Bridal Session page under the “For Brides & Grooms” menu above, or by clicking here.
For now, here are some of my favorites from the lovely Melissa’s bridal session at Arlington Hall and Lee Park in the Turtle Creek area of downtown Dallas!

Emily Porter (now Oberlander!) is a good friend of mine and fellow photographer from little ol’ West Virginia, where she is dominating the wedding photography industry. I was so honored to be able to photograph her bridal session recently at one of my favorite venues, the gorgeous NYLO Hotel in Plano. The NYLO is super friendly towards photographers and photoshoots and has a very low , which is so rare and hard to find, so I love shooting there as much as possible! It’s also a great place to stay, if you’re visiting the area – the food is phenomenal, the beds are very comfy, and their pool scene is always rocking on the weekends. It’s hands down my favorite hotel chain! The quirky and modern decor there completely fit Emily’s unique style and her inner sass. Here are a few of my favorites from her session:

Melissa and Philip are pretty much the embodiment of my ideal clients. They are both gorgeous to look at, incredibly nice, warm, funny, easy to be around, they both have classic and sophisticated style, and most important of all, they are head over heels in love with each other. There’s a joy that radiates from them when they look at each other, and a feeling of love that is so strong it’s nearly tangible when they’re in each others’ arms. They’re also two of the friendliest people I know, and they have made me feel like an old friend since the day I met them. Publishing this session is bittersweet for me, because it means my time photographing them has come to an end, but luckily I still have plenty more photos of these two hot lovebirds to publish here! For now, here’s a look at some of my favorites from their Day After Session at White Rock Lake in Dallas:

Even the largest snowfall in Texas’ history isn’t enough to keep me away from a beautiful bride. Thank goodness for heaters!

Remember the adorable couple whose engagement session I raved about just a few days ago? Well, they’re back, and their wedding has every bit as much life, energy, and happiness as their engagement session does. Everywhere these two go, they light up a room, and it doesn’t surprise me that they both surround themselves with equally friendly and likable people. I can’t help but brag about how my clients are some of the nicest, warmest, most welcoming people I’ve ever met, and Ashley and Matt are the epitome of that. It also didn’t hurt that Ashley (who worked for awhile at Anthropologie) has an amazing sense of style and incorporated her fantastic design sense into their wedding decor. With Ashley’s help, DFW Events and The Garden Gate Floral (the same team who will be working with me on my wedding!) created a fabulous combination of wooden vessels, candlelight, succulents, and burnt orange fall florals to honor Ashley and Matt’s Longhorn alma mater at the Lakewood Country Club. Here are some of my favorites from their wedding:

Ashley kept a diary during her engagement, and wrote a daily note describing the different things she loved about Matt. What an amazing gift to give your new husband!

Matt and Ashley chose to do a First Look, and they took a moment to sit and pray together before their ceremony. It was a really quiet and moving moment for me, and I think it was a wonderful way to start their marriage.

LOVE Matt’s Alamo cake! How quintessentially Southern of him – I would expect no less from a classic Texas gentleman.

Caroline has been a friend for a long time, and since the day I met her I have always admired her unique beauty and style. Just look at that face! That girl should be a supermodel! I’m a lucky photographer for getting to put her in front of my camera, and especially lucky to be able to call her a friend. She and Todd are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and the size of their wedding party should show you that they are two VERY likable people. Here are some of my favorites from their wedding day:

Ceremony Location: University Park United Methodist Church
Reception Location: Tower Club
Florist: Park Cities Petals
Band: Cuvee

Wedding Gown: Pronovias

Deziree and Jon are getting married TODAY! I am happy to report that this is the only wedding I have ever shot that will occur in two different years. Deziree is the definition of impeccable taste and her fabulous coordinator Tara Wilson has developed a reputation in Dallas as the event expert for a very good reason, so I can only imagine how breathtaking their wedding this evening will be. I’m happy to be ending 2009 – the best year yet for yours truly – and ringing in 2010 – which is poised to be even better – with Deziree and Jon, and happy to be sharing their engagement session at Again & Again, a posh furniture resale shop in Dallas. Enjoy, and Happy New Year!
